  • • Dual Pixel Focus Guide to assist manual focusing
  • • Focus Guide to assist manual focusing

The EOS C300 Mark II delivers high image quality and a wide dynamic range in a compact and ergonomically designed body that has improved operability, ruggedness and options for expansion. Its in-built advance focusing functions that assist professionals for manual focusing stems from the next evolutionary step in DAF engineering

Newly developed 4K (DCI/QFHD) 8.85-megapixel sensor and Wider Dynamic Range of 15 Stops
Canon has developed a new sensor that supports 4K (DCI) recording with a maximum 4096 x 2160 resolution, producing footages with high image quality. Also, 2K/HD recording (Over Sampling HD processing) that utilizes the information yielded from the 4K sensor to the full more than satisfactorily supports multi-purpose production needs. When users have selected the Canon Log 2 gamma, the dynamic range changes from 200% to 1600% when ISO 100 to ISO 800 is selected, and a wide dynamic range of 1600% is achieved for ISO800 at the base sensitivity and higher. This enables the details of the highlights and shadows to be adjusted, and it extends the scope of color grading.

Engineering advancement in focus functions
AF speed tuning has now been implemented. The focusing area has been expanded to approximately 80% (vertically) x 80% (horizontally) of the image display on the screen. The focusing area can also be moved using the 4-direction key for AF shooting using the framework of the user’s choice. This truly innovative UI applies the phase difference AF technology of Dual Pixel CMOS AF to deliver information that includes even the pre-focus and post-focus states of the focusing position, greatly improves user friendliness and efficiency in operation. This removes some of the obstacles to focusing in 4K shooting which demands extreme focusing accuracy.

Pursuing further excellence in operability, expandability and ruggedness
The new handle bracket has multiple threaded holes that are the same size as those on the accessories provided so that many different accessories can be mounted. This increases the degree of freedom in shooting as well as enhances user friendliness and rigging possibilities. A ND filter expansion mode of 8 and 10 stops, on top of the current 2, 4 and 6 stops is also supported. This enables the aperture to be opened even in bright outdoor environments to capture shots with a shallow depth of field. (Read more..)

  • • Workflow integration

4K 10 bit RAW
The C500 offers 4K 10-bit RAW, 2K RGB (4:4:4, 10 / 12 bit) or Full HD RGB data output to a compatible third party external device at frame rates of up to 60P. Two further SDI outputs can connect to an external monitor. Simultaneously record Full HD MXF files to CF cards for use as proxies in desktop editing.

Canon Log
Shooting with Canon Log delivers neutral image quality with wide dynamic range – 12-stops of latitude at a base setting of ISO 850 – for maximum freedom in post-production.

Slow and Fast Motion
During internal CF recording mode, the EOS C500 provides a Slow and Fast Motion Mode that can be used to record at a different frame rate than the playback frame rate, thereby resulting in either a fast or slow motion effect. Because the EOS C500 is recording real frames, and simply modifying the data playback rate, there is no overall quality loss due to interpolation; maximum image quality is maintained. In HD 1080 mode, fast motion is supported at up to 30-times normal rate and as slow as 1/1.25sec.; in HD 720 mode, fast motion is supported up to 60-times the normal rate, and as slow as 1/2.5 seconds. In 4K/2K output modes the camera provides variable frame rate control that can be output to external recorders. (Read more..)
